HLTH 31200 - An Interdisciplinary Health Ed Course for Any Student (3 credits)!)

HLTH 31200 is an interdisciplinary course appropriate for any major.  The goals of the course are to explore the historical, political, economic, social, and cultural factors that drive health disparities.  In addition, students will examine the role of U.S. health care systems in perpetuating sickness and premature death in vulnerable populations.  Through the lens of developmental theory and intersectionality as frameworks for analysis, course participants will examine life course health issues and the accumulating disadvantage for underserved, undervalued Americans.

HLTH 31200 - Spring 2022

HLTH 31200 is a great course.  It becomes more interesting as students bring their perspectives into the larger pool of diverse, non-traditional thought on serious social concerns.

This course meets ONCE PER WEEK on THURSDAY EVENINGS from 5:25pm - 8:05pm.  Our first session on Thursday, January 27 will be remote, via Zoom. There may be other remote session contingent upon the prevailing conditions.

Course is discussion based.  Students also solve problems via small and large group activities.  There are no exams, but individual critical reflection on the topics presented is expected each week, as well as other assignments to demonstrate understanding of the course material.

If you are interested in joining us, please add the course now and email me right away so that I can be sure you have the course link.

This course is designed for students who are Juniors, but I will permit other students to enter if there is space in the course..
