Online Cabaret to Benefit Survivors of Abuse in India

The 11th Annual Wheels for Women Cabaret is Coming Up!

Our 11th annual Wheels for Women cabaret will be Saturday, February 5, at 7pm. Snuggle up on your couch with a glass of your favorite beverage and watch without leaving your house! It's a great evening (a short evening) featuring the incredible talents of students at Ithaca College.

Our story: Wheels for Women is the direct result of Professor Kathleen Mulligan's 2010 Fulbright to India. Every year, students in the Department of Theatre Arts produce a cabaret to provide support for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse and the sex trade in Kerala. We partner with the Cultural Academy for Peace, run by the indomitable Beena Sebastian. At the core of our organization is job training for women as auto-rickshaw drivers—helping them to move towards financial independence and away from their abusers. We also work to raise funds for Beena’s dream of building a permanent “Peace Village”—an oasis where women and their children can find refuge while receiving job training, counseling, and other support as they put their lives back together.

Check out our website at wheels4women.org.

The evening will also feature the online pie auction and raffles for some great prizes (Kitchen Theatre, Hangar Theatre, and Cinemapolis tickets, Odyssey Books, and more!) Hope you can plan to join us on the 5th--and PLEASE SHARE with family and friends!
