FLEFF Announces Partnership with the Institute for the Study of Globalization and Cultures, University of Hong Kong for 25th Anniversary Edition

The Institute for the Study of Globalization and Cultures, University of Hong Kong will partner with the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF) to mount the 25th Anniversary Edition exploring the theme ENTANGLEMENTS.

The Institute for the Study of Globalization and Cultures, University of Hong Kong will partner with FLEFF to mount three screenings and talkbacks with featured filmmakers and scholars.

The Center for the Study of Globalization and Cultures, established in 1999 under the joint directorship of Prof. Ackbar Abbas and Prof. Benjamin Lee, is an interdisciplinary center based in the Department of Comparative Literature at the University of Hong Kong. The focus of its work is on issues of culture and globalization with special reference to Asia, China, and Hong Kong. Major research themes include: the cultures of capitalism; global flows of culture, media and technology; cities and globalization; new communities, publics, and identities; and postcolonialism and neo-liberalism.

The Center for the Study of Globalization and Cultures is now under the directorship of Professor Gina Marchetti. Its activities are structured around a series of lectures, workshops and seminars with distinguished international scholars working in collaboration with its own faculty members.
