On Friday, March 4th, Chrystyna Dail, Associate Professor of Theatre History in the Department of Theatre Arts, presented her paper: “'If you will do a maid’s work, be more careful about it'":  Staging Female Friendship in the Early Twentieth Century" at the Mid-America Theatre Conference. Her paper explores the popular piece Anne, of Old Salem (1906) by Clara Burbank Batchelder, and how it fulfilled a need for more women’s roles in performance while reframing female friendship for the stage.
