After more than 22 years, Jaimie Voorhees is leaving Ithaca College. You are invited to bid farewell to Jaimie at a going-away gathering on Tuesday, March 15, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Peggy Ryan Williams Center.
Jaimie began at IC in 1999 as a temp in the Provost’s Office, and after the Y2K scare, officially became a full-time employee in January 2000. In 2003, she was promoted to assistant to the dean of Enrollment Planning, working with Larry Metzger until his death in 2008. She continued work in Enrollment Management as assistant to the vice president through 2013, when she was again promoted to assist to the CFO, who, at the time, was Gerald Hector. In 2018, Jaimie joined the Office of the President team as executive assistant to former President Collado.
Throughout the years, Jaimie’s been a fixture on campus, heavily involved in the life of the college. She counts herself as one of the original “confetti ambassadors,” a core team of four who, in 2014, helped begin the enduring and eagerly anticipated tradition of confetti blasts at Commencement. Among some other highlights of her time at the college:
- She co-created the PRW “green team” to help educate the campus community about the sustainability features of PRW Center
- Jaimie worked the inaugurations of former Presidents Rochon and Collado
- She got stuck in the A&E tower during its construction (spoiler alert: she made it out)
- She taught Zumba at the Wellness Clinic and aqua Zumba at the indoor and outdoor pools
- She organized a flash mob dance to “Ice Ice Baby” for Gerald Hector’s farewell party
Jaimie is leaving Ithaca College with great memories, heartfelt gratitude, and lifelong friendships. Her next professional chapter begins March 28, as executive assistant to the inaugural dean of the Brooks School for Public Policy at Cornell.
