On Saturday, March 19, 2022, the Society of Professional Journalists announced the winners and finalists in the SPJ Region 1 Mark of Excellence Awards competition. Ithaca College Television (ICTV) and WICB were recognized for outstanding broadcast journalism and news and sports coverage.
ICTV Reports took first place in the Best All-Around Television News Magazine category. The submitted episode titled "A City of Progress" aired on December 7, 2021 and was produced by Riley Garand '23, Paige Tolan '24 and Julia Davis '23. Emily Lattimer '23 hosted the show's Fall 2021 season. ICTV Reports is ICTV's monthly news magazine featuring in-depth reporting in Ithaca, Tompkins County and the surrounding areas.

Ithaca College Television (ICTV) is Ithaca's student-run television station with over twenty weekly shows in production each semester. ICTV programming airs Sunday through Thursday on the City of Ithaca's Educational Cable Access Channel (Spectrum 16) and streams at ictv.org.
In addition, WICB took first place in two categories. WICB's "Ithaca Now" placed first in the Best All-Around Radio Newscast category. The submitted episode aired on April 4, 2021 and was produced by Jay Bradley '22, hosted by Clayton Davis '22 and included reporting by Himadri Seth '23, Madolyn Laurine '21, Bright Bright '21 and Christian Maitre '22. Ithaca Now is the station's weekly news magazine / podcast and features community stories, interviews and updates from Ithaca, Tompkins County and the surrounding areas. It airs Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM on 91.7 FM and streams at wicb.org.
Matthew Sosler's "Ithaca v. RPI Football Broadcast Open" placed first in the Radio Sports Reporting category. The three-minute audio package detailed the match-up, provided historical context and aired before the start of WICB's play-by-play coverage of the conference football game this past fall. Matthew Sosler '23 wrote, recorded and produced the award-winning entry.
WICB is Ithaca's student-run FM radio station and can be heard locally on 91.7 FM. Programming also streams at wicb.org and is available on the WICB iOS mobile app, plus iHeart and TuneIn Radio.
The winning regional entries will be entered in this spring's Mark of Excellence competition.
