The Ithacan was named the winner of the Corbin Gwaltney Award for Best All-Around Student Newspaper (Small) for the 2022 Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Region 1 Mark of Excellence Awards on Saturday.
As the regional winner, The Ithacan will be in the running for the national Mark of Excellence award, which will be announced this spring.
The Ithacan also was recognized as finalists in two categories: General News Reporting (Small) and Sports Reporting (Small). Alexis Manore, Alyshia Korba and Caitlin Holtzman were named finalists for their article 'Shape of the College' draft met with criticism. Connor Glunt was named a finalist for his article Gender equity issues persist with Ithaca College athletics.
