Lecture on the History of Right-wing Paramilitaries

By Jonathan Ablard, March 22, 2022

Dr. Kyle Burke, Hartwick College, will present "Revolutionaries for the Right: Anticommunist Paramilitary Warfare in the Late Cold War" on March 23, 4pm, in Friends 210 via Zoom (see link below). Dr. Burke's talk is based on his 2018 book, Revolutionaries for the Right: Anticommunist Internationalism and Paramilitary Warfare in the Cold War. Dr. Burke connects the global history of right-wing paramilitaries during the Cold War to the current crisis of anti-democratic forces, including armed groups, in the U.S. and abroad. This presentation will take place in Dr. Ablard's "Revolution and Counterrevolution in the Americas" course. Dr. Burke's talk is sponsored by the Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Department of History, and the Department of Politics.
