Linnea Carchedi and Holden Shatouhy, junior Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) majors, were selected to progress to the national finals in the Washington Media Scholars Media Plan Case Competition!
IMC students win trip to national media planning competition finals
After a double-blind review of submissions in the qualifying round of the contest against students from across the country, the top 26 teams were chosen to contend in the semi-finals. Linnea and Holden created a media plan that was reviewed by an expert panel of judges and chosen as one of the best in the nation. The team was one of only six selected to advance to compete this summer in Washington, D.C. for the National Excellence in Media Award and $18,500 in scholarships. The finalist teams have earned an all-expenses-paid trip, including a week of networking and training with media professionals from media organizations such as POLITICO, Google, iHeart Media, and The Washington Post. At the end of the week, they will present their plan to media executives in the final competition, on June 9.
Two teams from the same school cannot be selected as finalists. However, the other IMC student who entered the competition, senior Emily Guderian (IMC '22), was selected as first alternate, based on the quality of her media plan. In the event the other finalists can't attend, Emily will take their place. Emily has also been invited to attend virtual networking events with media professionals in the months of May and June.
Congratulations to all three IMC students, and good luck in Washington, D.C. to Linnea and Holden!
