Paulina Velázquez Solís, Department of Art, to present multimedia performance at Mengi in Reykjavik, Iceland

Velázquez Solís was invited to present her work on April 13th and lead a workshop at MENGI along with Travis Johns and Icelandic artists Páll Ivan frá Eiðum, Guðmundur Steinn Gunnarsson and Jesper Pedersen. The event will include individual performances.

Paulina Velázquez Solís is a professor in the Department of Art
where she teaches Digital Studio. She received her BFA and
Licenciatura in Art and Visual Communication in Printmaking at
Universidad Nacional in Costa Rica, and obtained an MFA in New Genres
from the San Francisco Art Institute, in San Francisco, California as
a Fulbright Scholar.
Her work has been presented in places like Museo de Arte y Diseño
Contemporáneo, TEOR/éTica and Instituto México in Costa Rica, Taipei
Fine Arts Museum in Taiwan, ExTeresa Arte Actual in México City, Museo
de Arte in San Salvador, Torino Contemporanea in Italy, La Casa de las
Américas in Havana, Cuba, Museum of the Americas in Washington DC,
UCLA Biennial in Los Ángeles, SUNY Gallery in New Paltz, New York,
Mission Cultural Center, Root Division, The Lab and the Berkeley Art
Museum in the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as various film
festivals.
MENGI is a vibrant creative space in downtown Reykjavík, Iceland,
known for their live events series with emphasis on experimental art
and music.
