Dr. Zoe Shan Lin (History) presented her paper “Engraving Financial Negotiations: Stelae in Southern Song China” at the AAS annual conference on March 27. As part of the panel, “Stories of Stones in Middle Period China,”

Dr. Lin’s paper examines how religious institutions in Thirteenth-century China made and used stelae to negotiate with local governments for tax exemptions and land property.
