ENVS alum, Laura O’Brien and Assistant Prof in ENVS, Praneeta Mudaliar published an article on decolonizing Land management in a special issue of the Journal of Land Use Science to showcase the diverse and important contributions being made by female or non-binary scientists to the field of land use science, and also to acknowledge the challenges and gender bias women are still facing.

Laura and Praneeta’s research goes beyond just the inclusion of women in land science and it does so in an inclusive manner which allows for a broader perspective and the inclusion of different knowledge systems and Indigenous peoples, all to improve and decolonize land management systems.

Laura O’Brien led this research as a part of her Honors research project (2020-2021), chaired by Praneeta Mudaliar and committee members, Jake Brenner and Jason Hamilton.
