Supporting Southside Community Center in Ithaca

VIC Radio is hosting its 35th annual 50 Hour Marathon starting this Friday, April 22nd through Sunday, April 24th in support of Southside Community Center in Ithaca.  VIC DJ's Michael Memis '22, Trisha Curtin '22, Arlo Catanzaro '23 and Gus Genova '24 are set to stay on the air fifty straight hours playing their favorite indie-alternative tracks and welcoming special musical guests to the studio for exclusive interviews and performances.

Starting Friday, April 22nd at 4:00 PM, the Marathon will stream live on VICRadio.org and simulcast on WICB and ICTV. WICB can be heard locally on 91.7 FM and streaming at WICB.org, iHeart Radio and TuneIn Radio. ICTV is broadcast locally on the City of Ithaca's Educational Cable Access Channel (Spectrum 16) and also stream at ICTV.org.

The 50 Hour Marathon is a weekend-long fundraising effort that benefits a local non-profit organization. The annual event was first held in 1986. Click here for more information about the Marathon's history.

All donations made during the 50 Hour Marathon will benefit Southside Community Center. If you're able, please consider donating here.

The station's fundraising effort for Southside Community Center started with VIC's Virtual Fall Benefit Concert this past October. You can rewatch the concert here. The concert included performances from Vestments, Library of Egress, Samuel B. Lupowitz and Sam Harris (of the X Ambassadors).

More information about Southside Community Center: Since its incorporation in 1934, the Southside Community Center, Inc., continues to affirm, empower, and foster the development of self-pride among the African-American citizens of greater Ithaca. Through forums and activities in education, recreation, political and social awareness, the Southside Community Center is a community resource center, whose focus is empowering and educating the BIPOC community, while tackling social justice issues. Southside serves as a vehicle to develop an appreciation for the contributions and presence of those peoples of African descent in the greater Ithaca community and in the larger world community.

Donations will go towards Southside Community Center's after-school programming for children in order to help them have as many educational games, toys, and books as possible. In the words of Executive Director Chavon Bunch, "their success begins with us."
