The Ithacan named Best College Newspaper in state by NYPA

Among four first-place finishes in NYPA's Better College Newspaper Competition

The Ithacan was named the Best College Newspaper in the state by the New York Press Association at the Spring 2022 conference Saturday in Saratoga Springs.

The Ithacan also took first place for General Excellence, Best Website and Best News Story for “'Shape of the College’ draft met with criticism” by Alexis Manore, Alyshia Korba and Caitlin Holtzman.

Abbey London was awarded third place for Photography for her photo on the cover of the winter sports preview where she got in the pool and treaded water to capture the image of Emily Vandersleen on the starting block.

Avery Alexander received honorable mention for Column Writing for her contributions to Popped Culture, a legacy of the Life & Culture section that she was instrumental in developing.

This marked the 20th straight year that The Ithacan was awarded the Best College Newspaper in New York state by NYPA.
