Submitted on behalf of Dr. Timothy Carey, Associate Vice President, Facilities
I am delighted to inform the campus community that Scott Doyle has been named the college’s new Director of Energy Management and Sustainability. Scott joins IC following 15 years of service with the Tompkins County Department of Planning and Sustainability where he led and participated in numerous planning, energy and sustainability initiatives. A 1998 IC alum, Scott’s background also includes planning and sustainability-related employment at Cornell University’s Campus Life Division in Conference and Event Services and the University of Oregon’s Community Service Center. He also previously served as an adjunct instructor in IC’s Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences.
Scott will be officially joining the College on Monday, June 6. Though his portfolio will encompass a robust set of initiatives, he will be spending a portion of his initial time in his new position proactively reaching out to our valued faculty colleagues who have historically engaged the director to provide classroom presentations; Scott will also be delighted to hear from others who would like to introduce a sustainability perspective into their courses. Additionally, Scott will be working closely this summer with utility providers, the IC Maintenance team, campus colleagues and contracted vendors to study and seek out strategies to lower our utility consumption levels and corresponding carbon footprint impacts.
Scott’s appointment is the result of an extensive search and I want to thank and acknowledge the efforts of the search committee members who were so incredibly helpful to me within the process:
- Ernie McClatchie (Search Chair) – Executive Director, Maintenance, Grounds & Transportation
- Jason Hamilton – Professor, Environmental Studies and Sciences
- Marc Israel – Associate Vice President, Business and Finance
- Anne Stork – Assistant Professor, Environmental Studies and Sciences
- James Zampetti – Student Governance Council (Cabinet Officer)
