Please join me in congratulating Dr. Ramin Bagherzadeh, assistant professor of marketing, for his selection as the recipient of the 2022 Michael LaTour Memorial Award for Research Excellence. The Michael LaTour Memorial Fund was established in memory of Professor Mike LaTour who passed away in November 2015. Mike was a professor of marketing at Ithaca College who was a dedicated researcher and prolific author specializing in consumer responses to promotional stimuli. The Fund provides a summer research award to a junior faculty member in the School of Business performing high-quality, impactful research that can be published in top-tier academic journals. After a blind review of four excellent research proposals, the committee selected the proposal from Professor Bagherzadeh for his project, “Hate Becomes Love Again.” The project seeks to study how firms can make customers who take an online revenge when their complaints are not resolved effectively, happy and loyal, by offering them an effective solution to their problem.
I am honored to work with the committee (department chairs) and Mike’s wife Kathy in the selection of scholars who earn the award that bears his name. Congratulation to Professor Bagherzadeh for this well-deserved award and recognition!
