School of Business welcomes new finance faculty and staff

Mejda Bahlous-Boldi (Ph.D., Finance) is an experienced educator with over twenty years of teaching. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Corporate Finance, Commercial Banking Risk Management, Financial Modeling, Investments, Ethical Finance, Financial Markets, and Cost Accounting. She joins us from RIT campus in Dubai, where she taught since 2014 as an Associate professor of Finance. Prior to that, she was the chair of the department of Accounting and Finance at American University in Dubai (2012-2014), Associate Professor of Finance at University of Bahrain (2008-12), and a faculty member at “Institut des Hautes Etudes Commerciales” (IHEC), School of Business Administration, Carthage-Tunisia, where she started as Assistant Professor of Finance in 1994 and earned the rank of Full Professor in 2008.

Mejda has served as an adjunct professor of Finance at School of Business, University of Alabama-Huntsville, and Alabama A&M in 2007-2008, visiting Senior Fulbright Scholar, MIT Sloan School of Management, Cambridge-Massachusetts, 1998-99, and visiting professor at Concordia University, Montreal-Canada (summer 1997). She did her undergraduate in Finance at IHEC School of Business, Carthage-Tunisia and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Finance as well at University of Rennes I-France.

Dr. Bahlous-Boldi is joining our faculty as an Associate Professor and Director of Investment.

Matthew Fox (CMT, MBA). Matt is no stranger to the School of Business! He is an alum, graduated with a double concentration in Finance and Management, and minor in Economics, in 2013 and went on to earn his MBA in 2014.

 He started his career as an Investment Research Analyst and Equity Portfolio Manager at Tompkins Financial Advisors and a voting member of an Investment Committee that managed more than $4 billion in assets. He was responsible for building and managing investment portfolios that were utilized by more than 2,000 clients and training a team of more than 25 financial advisors. In March 2020, he founded his own company, Ithaca Wealth Management where he works as a Wealth Manager. Matt has a Series 65 license and is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT).

Matt took over the teaching of Equity Portfolio Management and Fixed Income Portfolio Management courses in Spring ’22, after the departure of the previous instructors, Jason Muenzen and Steven Novakovic at the end of March. Before, he had participated as a guest speaker in our Wealth Management courses.

In his current role, Matt is responsible for managing our Trading Room, interacting with the vendors of various platforms and IT office to ensure continuity of data feed for instructional and research needs of the faculty and students; running the High School Investment Competition, CFA and Analyst Showdown research challenges; cultivate and maintain relations with alumni and major donors for internship & job opportunities, in partnership with the Director of Investment, among others!
