In response to the need for engaging remote instruction during the pandemic shutdown, Dana Professor Matthew C. Sullivan created new instructional labs for intermediate and advanced physics classrooms. One such lab on the optics of a smartphone was recently published in the American Journal of Physics. One of the premier journals in pedagogical physics, the American Journal of Physics publishes “articles on the educational and cultural aspects of physics that are useful, interesting, and accessible to a diverse audience of physics students, educators, and researchers.”
In addition, Dr. Sullivan’s work was selected by the editors at the American Institute of Physics to be featured as a “Scilight.” Each “science highlight briefly summarizes newly published research, emphasizing its significance to a particular field. Scilights are written to ‘intrigue’ a broad scientific audience showcasing what is new and important in the latest research.”
