One World Market, Ithaca's non-profit, fair trade store, recently held its annual Fair Trade Rug Event at St. Catherine of Siena church. This annual event creates a more equitable world by providing vital and fair income to Pakistani rug artisans who otherwise would have very few sustainable outlets for their craft and artistry.
It is said that many hands make light work and this is certainly true when unloading and loading a large inventory of rugs. One World Market is grateful to the Women's Ruby Club who provided critical support in this process as well as to Speech and Debate Team member Skyler Cepek (Politics, 24) and to faculty members; Elizabeth Bergman, Ari Kissiloff, and Juan Arroyo (and family!) who helped to make the event a success.
