Ithaca College is excited to partner with JED, a nonprofit that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for our nation’s teens and young adults, on training faculty and staff to support students. In order to make the trainings on "You Can Help a Friend" and "You Can Help a Student" happen, we need YOU. JED will be hosting a "train the trainer" event in which faculty and staff will learn how to facilitate training events to help faculty, staff, and students support members of the IC community in distress as well as giving you skills that you can utilize in all areas of life. We are looking for 20-40 faculty or staff members to volunteer to participate in a free training on October 27 from 8:30 am - 12 pm, which will include catered breakfast.
Here at IC, we are proud to prioritize supporting the mental health of our students. This is an incredible opportunity to learn more not only about the mental health struggles students face, but to learn how to assist students in distress in a concrete way. The training will last approximately three hours, and participants will leave fully prepared to facilitate trainings for the larger campus. If you are interested in participating, please fill out this form- you can sign up yourself, or nominate a faculty or staff member who you think would be a good fit for supporting campus in this way. Email kgirouard@ithaca.edu if you have any accessibility needs or food restrictions.
