Ithaca Music Forum presents “Improvisation, Contingency, and the Music of Eric Dolphy” - October 21 at 5:00 PM

The Ithaca Music Forum launches its 2022-23 colloquium season with a presentation by Dr. Dan DiPiero about the improvisational work of jazz multi-instrumentalist Eric Dolphy.

Dr. DiPiero’s lecture, “Improvisation, Contingency, and the Music of Eric Dolphy,” will take place at 5:00 PM on Friday, October 21, in Nabenhauer Recital Hall (Whalen 4308) on the Ithaca College campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Dan DiPiero is a musician and Visiting Assistant Professor of Musicology at Ithaca College. His book Contingent Encounters: Improvisation in Music and Everyday Life was published with the University of Michigan Press in 2022.
