On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, the Biden-Harris Administration hosted a College Radio Day event at The White House in Washington, DC. WICB Station Manager Connor Hibbard '23, VIC Radio Station Manager Andy Tell '23 and the Park School's Manager of Television & Radio Operations Jeremy Menard were among those who attended. Students from ten schools (including Ithaca College) received the invitation to celebrate college radio and hear from the following members of the Biden-Harris Administration:
- Kamala Harris, Vice President
- Karine Jean-Pierre, Press Secretary
- Bharat Ramamurti, Deputy Director for the National Economic Council
- Sheila Nix, Chief of Staff, Department of Education
- Jennifer Molina, Deputy Communications Director
- Nick Conger, Senior Advisor, Climate Policy Office
The discussion and interview sessions focused on the importance of journalism, as well as topics such as climate change, college loan forgiveness and the current state of the economy. Those in attendance also received a brief tour of the Eisenhower Executive Office Building and the White House's Brady Press Briefing Room. The event continued the celebration of World College Radio Day, which took place on Friday, October 7, 2022. World College Radio Day Co-Founder Rob Quicke attended the White House event too.
