We are a group of artist friends who began to meet monthly in 2020, at the start of the pandemic, to discuss works- in-progress. What began as a means of reducing the isolation we all experienced during the pandemic, blossomed into a valuable and meaningful exchange of ideas. We took note of struggles, offered up opinions (often conflicting), and encouraged each other in the challenges of using new media or developing new thematic concerns. Our monthly sessions became a lifeline for all of us, moving each person towards a more vibrant studio practice. Many visual artists work in isolation in their studios between exhibits, so finding a group of committed artists to come together in a common purpose, gives a rhythm to this solitary pursuit and keeps us pushing forward with an influx of new ideas. While the four of us have very distinct voices, after two years of meeting together, we find an interesting resonance developing between our works.
This is an incredible opportunity to see four retired Ithaca College art professors in one exhibition.
