Celebrating SUPERvision successes this fall!

By Mish Lenhart, December 15, 2022

Thank you SEE steering team and active members!

The Student Employment Enhancement (SEE) steering team has served IC since the fall of 2017, with the goal of preparing student employees to be professionals through inclusive and experiential learning-based mentoring and development. This has been a grassroots effort led by various dedicated staff members across campus who designed and facilitated meaningful professional development workshops, conferences, webinars, networking opportunities, and resource libraries for fellow supervisors of student employees.

Throughout the years, leadership of this group has been shared by many outstanding individuals who volunteered significant time and effort to ensure that supervisors could help student employees grow and thrive. During the fall 2022 semester we hosted four webinars in the SEE SUPERvision series, held a successful Student Employment Fair for departments to recruit new student employees, and had one in-person workshop focusing on student employee wellness. Kudos to all of the SEE members who engaged in the programming or helped to plan and implement events! Special thanks to Suzie Brache, Career Engagement Specialist, and Jess Shapiro, Assistant Director of Student Engagement, who have co-chaired the SEE Steering Team this year, and to our longest-serving member, Ben Hogben, Access Services Manager in the Library.

SEE Student Employment Fair fall 2022.

The SEE steering team will be taking a break for the spring semester, so that this small group of committed volunteers can focus on departmental work, and we want to celebrate all of the good work that has been offered to the campus community!

If you are a supervisor of student employees and you are looking for ideas, please join the SEE SUPERvision group on Teams to find many practical resources and a supportive network of fellow supervisors who you can turn to for advice or collaboration. We hope that SEE activities will be back in the future to continue the excellent tradition of professional development on campus. Thanks again!
