The Center for Faculty Excellence will facilitate book discussion groups this spring semester focusing on inclusive teaching (January 30th – May 10th) with a series of bi-weekly group meetings. Each member will receive a copy of Inclusive Teaching, Strategies for Promoting Equity in the College Classroom, by Kelly A. Hogan and Viji Sathy. The goal of this semester long program is to discuss and implement additional ways to help all students feel welcome and included in higher education courses. Emphasis will be on course and syllabus design, classroom environment and interactions, and inclusive practices outside of the classroom. With each book group limited in size to help foster a community of practice between faculty, sign-ups will be on a first come first serve basis. Zoom and in-person options are available.
