Join Our Team!

The JED Campus Committee is seeking additional members to join the following subcommittees. If you would like to join please email healthpromotion@ithaca.edu. These committees are open for all students, faculty and staff to join.

Mental Health Awareness Events subcommittee: This group is coordinating several mental health awareness events including Stop & Breathe Week(s), a Mental Health Screening Day (an inaugural event designed for individuals to gain insight to their mental wellness) and Neon Nights (an inaugural JED Campus fundraising event that will involve a Glow Dance Party – it is going to be lit!). Members of this subcommittee will be involved with the planning logistics and implementation of these events as well as collaborating with the campus community.

  • The Mental Health Awareness subcommittee meets bi-weekly for 1 hour and works on tasks in between meetings. Meetings for Spring 2023 will be scheduled based on the availability of the subcommittee members

Training & Implementation subcommittee: This group will be coordinating the suicide prevention trainings, You Can Help A Friend and You Can Help A Student. This includes scheduling the logistics for trainings and helping to support the 35 Trained Trainers. The goal is to have as many students and employees participate in these trainings and become Mental Health JED(i). Additionally this group will be looking to share Ithaca College Mental Health & Wellness data with the campus community by facilitating data presentations and conversations.

  • The Training & Implementation subcommittee meets weekly for 1 hour and works on tasks in between meetings. Meetings for Spring 2023 will be scheduled based on the availability of the subcommittee members

In January 2020, Ithaca College enrolled into the JED Campus initiative, a 4-year evidence-based program, to cultivate a campus community that fosters emotional wellness and works towards suicide prevention. The JED Campus Committee at Ithaca College is led by Brian Petersen and Michelle Goode and has 4 active subcommittees; Communications subcommittee, Mental Health Awareness Events subcommittee, Student Connections subcommittee and the Training Development & Implementation subcommittee.
