HSA and FSA Contributions

By Brynn Fielding, January 12, 2023

We have received several questions regarding the Health Savings Account (HSA) and the Flexible Spending Account (FSA) contributions. The HSA Employer Contribution is always transmitted to PayFlex in the first payroll of the year. The same applies to the employee FSA contributions for Healthcare and Dependent Care.

For 2023, if you elected the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and are part of the biweekly payroll, the HSA Ithaca Employer Contribution should already appear in your PayFlex account. Employees who are part of the semi-monthly payroll schedule will see their contributions next week after payroll is processed on 1/13/2023.

For 2023, if you enrolled in the FSA Healthcare or Dependent Care and are part of the biweekly or semimonthly payroll, the FSA Employee Contribution should already appear in your PayFlex account.

2022 Health Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Balances
Ithaca College carried over your unused healthcare 2022 FSA funds in your PayFlex account. For 2022 into 2023, the carryover option allows you to roll over up to $570 of unspent FSA healthcare money at the end of the plan year. This does not apply to the dependent care FSA funds.

What are your next steps?
No further action is required on your end and employees can continue using their FSA to pay for eligible expenses throughout the plan year: Log into payflex.com, your PayFlex member website, to view your balance and account details. You can also log into the PayFlex Mobile® app.

If you have eligible out-of-pocket expenses, select file a claim to get reimbursed from your account.

If you aren’t sure what’s considered an eligible expense, review the list on payflex.com. Or use the Eligible Expense Scanner on the PayFlex app.
