Information Technology is excited to announce that the migration to the Windows 11 operating system has commenced and will continue throughout the remainder of the Spring semester for all college owned Windows computers.
How Does This Impact Me?
The Windows 11 upgrade will be included as part of the standard ‘Windows Updates’ that routinely occurs and will take around 15-30 minutes to complete. Additional communication regarding the upgrade dates will be sent directly to individuals that will be impacted. In addition, individuals will have the ability to delay the update (up to 14 days) by responding to the options in the upgrade pop-up window.
What Changes in Windows 11?
In addition to enhancing security, Windows 11 comes with several new features that help enhance the user experience. Information Technology will be publishing a more detailed summary of the Windows 11 features in upcoming Intercom articles and direct email communications. Highlights of some of the new features include:
- An enhanced centered taskbar
- Wider variety of useful widgets
- Four snap layouts that will allow easy screen space management
- An enhanced Settings navigation
- The ability to have multiple desktops
