Michael Trotti, Professor of History at IC, will celebrate the launch of his book, The End of Public Execution, at his "home" bookstore, Buffalo Street Books. What could be better than joining with community in a warm bookstore on a wintery February afternoon! Come join us!
In conversation with the audience and with Rob Vanderlan, a history PhD and the Executive Director of Cornell's Center for Teaching Innovation, this event will explore the curious and intertwined history of the death penalty, race, and religion in the American South, the region of the country that has used capital punishment more than any other.
For more, see the bookstore's page on the event.
For an interview about the book, see the End of Public Execution episode of the New Books Network podcast.
The author would love to have students attend if they are interested: it's great to get out into the community, and how often do you get the chance to be at a book launch?! TCAT's Route 11 on Saturdays leaves the stop at the Park School at 2:48pm and drops you off at Seneca Street, just a block from Buffalo Street Books and just in time for the event.
