On Wednesday, February 15th from 12:00 – 12:50pm, The MLK Campus-Wide Celebration committee and Center for Faculty Excellence are hosting a follow-up discussion to Don't Look Away (Requiem for a World That Never Was) (https://www.justdontlookaway.com/). Don’t Look Away is a thought-provoking piece about racism in America that was recently premiered at Ithaca College during the MLK Celebration Concert. Participation in this workshop does not require having attended the concert. The workshop will be led by Laura Branca, DEI facilitator, trainer and organization consultant, Senior Fellow and Project Director of the Dorothy Cotton Institute.
The workshop will include a discussion of white supremacy, privilege and silence. We’ll look at some of the legitimizing myths and dynamics that reinforce systemic racism and other isms and discuss what is at stake for academics to challenge inequity, interrupt bias in themselves and others. The workshop will be interactive and conversational and is intended to be part of ongoing work for justice, equity, diversity and inclusion, organizational awareness and anti-racism at Ithaca College.
Please register here https://ithaca.campuslabs.com/engage/event/8831420 for the workshop at IC Engage by Monday, February 13th.
If you are interested in this discussion, but unavailable for this date/time, or the capacity limit for the event has been reached, please email selebiary@ithaca.edu to receive information about future programming.
