Faculty Development and Curriculum Study

In conjunction with Director of Research and Thought-Leadership at the IMA, Shari Littan, and Assistant Professor of Management at the United States Air Force Academy, Kristine Brands, Dr. Shackell presented “Management Accountants’ Role in Sustainable Business Strategy: A Guide to Reducing a Carbon Footprint”.  They discussed the role for measurement and management of emissions, risk management, ways to educate students, and opportunities for faculty to get involved in developing materials. 

At the same conference, Dr. Shackell was the discussant for two papers on education research: 1) Integration of Business Sustainability Education into Business and Accounting Curricula, and 2) Integrating ESG into the Accounting Curriculum: Insights from Accounting Educators.

Dr. Shackell was also part of the conference Steering Committee.  The conference was held in Washington DC and had keynote speakers from the SEC, FASB, and A4S: Accounting for Sustainability, King Charles III’s initiative, among others.
