IC Alert: Ithaca College Will be Open Under Remote Operating Status on Tuesday, March 14, 2023

By News, March 13, 2023

Because of the impending winter storm, Ithaca College will be open under remote operating status as of 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14. Essential staff should report to campus for their scheduled work hours. No scheduled in-person events or programs on campus are permitted.

While the majority of students are currently on Spring Break, for those programs which are conducting classes, the classes will be held remotely.

Essential on-campus operations will remain open but may have limited services. Any services that can be delivered in a remote format with remote staff can remain open.

The IC Square Food Court and Ithaca Bakery hours of operation will be 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., while the Ithaca Bakery will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. All other dining operations as well as the Food Pantry will be closed.

Essential staff supporting the following open on-campus services are expected to report to work:

  • Dining Services staff working Spring Break hours at the IC Square Food Court and Ithaca Bakery
  • Office of Facilities
  • Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management
  • Office of Residential Life Live-In Duty Staff
  • Additional in-person services related to health and safety

Essential staff should consult with their supervisors if they are unsure of their need to report to campus.

Student employees who work in pre-defined student essential roles may report to work if they are able, but they are not required to report during this operational status. All other student employees are not permitted to work on campus during this operating status.

All non-essential in-person services not listed above will be closed to in-person traffic unless otherwise specified. These services include, but may not be limited to:

  • Ithaca College Library
  • Fitness Center
  • Athletics and Events Center Facilities
  • IT Labs
  • Practice Rooms and Performance Spaces
  • Wellness Clinic

Staff whose basic job duties cannot be accomplished remotely will be compensated per the IC Compensation Program policy. All other staff who are able to complete job functions in a remote format are expected to work remotely. Staff who require special arrangements should contact their supervisor to discuss specific work arrangements or assignments.

Information for employees on recording time when the college is in remote status due to inclement weather can be found here.

A decision on the college’s operating status for Wednesday, March 15, will be announced earlier Tuesday evening.
