arteriaLA Arte y Materialidades desde Latinoamerica is a series of podcast with representatives of Art and Culture in Latin-American, a project of the Latin American Center Zurich, University of Zurich. Each episode is a reflection on materials,  materiality, and how it circulates in different art spheres.

In the episode «Materiality as Mediator of Affection », Paulina Velázquez and the team arteriaLA, Pauline Bachmann and Dayron Carrillo-Morell converse in Spanish about the tension in organic shapes and materials, and their reference to vital processes in the human body, that tend to be considered eschatological. The conversation goes around the public’s perception and reactions, when they are in front of art focused on biological processes that irritate, and in a way, generate a degree of social censorship. From the public’s provocation and questioning of their habit to reject or accept, this end of season invites us to reflect on the possible aesthetic and affective conciliation with “the abject.”
