We invite the faculty to join us for a conversation about shared governance, with a focus on two draft documents that seek to capture our existing shared governance model and structures at IC, for the purpose of transparency and common understanding.
As a reminder for background:
In January, a group of faculty, administrators, and Board of Trustees members met to discuss shared governance at Ithaca College. Coming out of this summit was a charge to more formally articulate our vision for shared governance and the flow of decision-making as it operates at IC. The goal was not to alter how shared governance functions, but to articulate the existing vision and describe how shared governance is operationalized -- again, for the sake of transparency and common understanding across the campus.
As the subcommittee that did that work, we have produced drafts of a shared governance vision statement and a grid that charts the flow of decision-making. We are eager to share these drafts with you and to hear your thoughts.
We have arranged three different sessions for this conversation, in an effort to accommodate as many faculty as possible. See below for times and locations. For planning purposes, we ask that you please RSVP, though there is no cap for attendance.
Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to seeing you at one of the sessions.
