Guest NYC Dance Artist Sarah Hillmon on Campus

The Center for Theatre and Dance Performance is pleased to host guest dance artist Sarah Hillmon, visiting from NYC, on Thursday, April 20. Sarah will be a guest lecturer in Survey of Dance History, speaking about the great postmodern choreographer Lucinda Childs, and an instructor in Advanced Dance Techniques: Partnering, demonstrating and teaching some material of Childs as well as new choreography collaboratively created with professor Daniel Gwirtzman.

This is a great opportunity to learn about choreographer Lucinda Childs, a choreographer we study in Dance History. It will be illuminating to hear Sarah speak about her experiences performing and touring classic dances (“Einstein,” “DANCE,” and “Available Light.”
 
What: Guest Partnering Master Class
When: Thursday, April 20, 2023
Time: 3:00-4:30pm
Where: Dillingham, Studio 1

And later in the day, in Advanced Dance Techniques, Sarah will co-teach the partnering course, introducing new repertory and shedding more light on how partnering was used in the work of Lucinda Childs.

Everyone is invited to join as observers for however long you are able; it will not be a problem to leave early or arrive late. Time will be left at the end of class for questions and a discussion. If you are interested in joining as a dancer in the master class, please reach out to Professor Gwirtzman in advance.
