Dave Curry, Director of the Center for Career Exploration and Development, has announced an exciting addition to the center’s growing team, with Sam Elebiary taking on the role of Associate Director of Career Engagement and Education. Sam, who currently serves as program director for the BOLD Women’s Leadership Network, will transition to her role following the conclusion of the 2022-23 academic year.
“We couldn’t be happier to be adding Sam to our team. Her experience in program creation and student mentorship, and her proven commitment to Ithaca College and the Career Center’s diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging focus makes her ready to hit the ground running,” said Curry. “On the heels of our office re-branding and unveiling of our new model of student engagement, we are thrilled to have an associate director with Sam’s experience and student-centered approach to all she does. Her expertise allows us to further innovate our Peer Career Advisor program, which we know will lead to even more exciting and positive student outcomes.”
The Center for Career Exploration and Development has undergone an exciting transformation, spearheaded by the appointment of Curry to the director role during the Fall of 2021. Under his leadership, the Center has undertaken significant structural changes in how it delivers professional development and career advisement to Ithaca College students, which led to the renaming of the department to the Center for Career Exploration and Development earlier this year.
As the Associate Director for Career Engagement and Education, Sam will play a key role in the creation, implementation, and assessment of the Center’s strategic vision as it continues to roll out innovative ways to support students in their career education and professional development. Sam will directly supervise the Center’s Peer Career Advisors (PCAs), which includes coordinating the program’s hiring process, scheduling, and providing mentorship and day-to-day guidance. As the Center continues to emphasize data and analytics, Sam will also play a large role in the creation and implementation of processes to collect and analyze student learning outcomes from various workshops and programs offered by the Center.
Sam has been an employee at IC since 2017 and has served as the Program Director for the BOLD Women’s Leadership Network, housed within the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Life, since November of 2018. Over the past five years, Sam has overseen the growth and development of this innovative program. During her tenure in the role, she has been responsible for leading the rigorous selection process for six cohorts of BOLD scholars and has built a robust portfolio of workshops and programs designed to support participants of the program in professional development, networking, and leadership skill building.
The college will share information soon about the process to identify the new Program Director for the BOLD Women’s Leadership Network. Please join in congratulating Sam as she embarks on this new professional opportunity. We are excited to continue leveraging her knowledge, expertise, and creative vision to support students at Ithaca College!
