The Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County presents its 15th annual Spring Writes Literary Festival –– featuring over 30 free literary events from May 3 to May 14,, 2023. Most events are live in downtown Ithaca, and some are on Zoom. More than 100 local writers are participating! Ithaca College is an event sponsor, and about one-fifth of the participating writers are IC faculty, staff, or current or past students. Festival events include: an open mic for poetry and prose, multiple thematic and performative readings, Haudenosaunee voices, storytelling, panel discussions about revisions, writing about grief, first novels, and writing for profit. Workshops include “From Memory to Memoir,” “Creating Our Own Myths,” “Writing with Intention,” and more. Special events include the Ithaca Book and Zine Fest, Collage Day, jazz poetry, and multi-art form collaborative performances.
