The Excellence in Broadcasting Awards were presented at the New York State Broadcasters Association's Serving NY Regional Award Luncheon held on September 20, 2023 at the Double Tree Hotel in Binghamton, New York.
During the awards ceremony, WICB & VIC Radio also received Serving NY Awards honoring outstanding service to the community. On Saturday, March 25, 2023, members of WICB participated in Ithaca's annual Polar Plunge at Taughannock Falls State Park in support of Special Olympics New York. WICB's team raised $410. In total, the community event raised over $101K for the organization, surpassing the fundraising goal.
The weekend of April 21, 2023, VIC Radio hosted its 36th annual 50 Hour Marathon in support of Advocacy Center of Tompkins County. VIC DJ's Andy Tell '23, Clare Breakell '23, Carly Vallet '23 and Aidan Charde '23 stayed awake and on the air for fifty straight hours playing their favorite indie-alternative tracks. It streamed live on VICRadio.org and was simulcast on WICB and ICTV. VIC exceeded its goal and raised a total of $4,026 for the Advocacy Center. The Marathon was organized by Keenan Griebel '24, VIC's 50 Hour Marathon Coordinator.
