"Untold Stories" analyzes the complicated roles of mental health facilities and psychiatrists during Argentina's last dictatorship, which ran from 1976-1983. Using a range of materials, including published memoirs, newspaper accounts, and human rights reports, Dr. Ablard considers why the story of medical complicity in the dictatorship has only slowly come to light. The paper also engages with scholarship on authoritarianism's impact on mental health from around the globe.
