On June 15, two staff members in the Office of Student Engagement presented at the 2023 New York Leadership Engagement Conference at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. Jess Shapiro, assistant director, and Mish Lenhart, director, presented a session called, “Flipping the Script on Student Recognition,” that highlighted the unique format of Ithaca College’s Co-Curricular Symposium, a truly student-centered approach to recognizing learning outside of the classroom. The audience for this program included student affairs professionals from colleges and universities across New York State, working in student activities, residential life, athletics, multicultural affairs, career services, orientation programs, and more. The presentation inspired several other teams to initiate a co-curricular symposium at their campuses! Jess and Mish would be happy to share the presentation with any colleagues who are interested in learning more about this cutting edge program that provides a meaningful experience for students at IC!
