Money Names Ithaca Among America’s Best Colleges

By News, August 10, 2023

Ithaca College has been named to Money’s “Best Colleges in America 2023” list based on its quality, affordability, and student outcomes. The personal finance digital platform scored more than 2,400 colleges and universities, with only 736 making the grade for inclusion.

Intended to help students and families make informed decisions about higher education, the list offers a practical analysis based on the philosophy that there is not one, singular best college for everyone. Instead of giving a numerical ranking of all included institutions, each was graded from 2.5 to 5 stars—with Ithaca College earning a 4-star rating.

“With Money’s new Best Colleges list, readers will have the opportunity to evaluate schools with more context and avoid being distracted by where something falls compared to hundreds of other schools,” says executive editor Mike Ayers. “We hope this will help those looking to make an educated choice around one of the most important financial decisions of their lifetime.”

The Money ratings take into account 26 data points in all. The quality of education category includes factors such as graduation rates, peer quality, instructor access, and Pell Grant recipient outcomes. Affordability includes factors such as the net price of a degree and ability to repay debt. The graduate outcomes include measures of alumni earnings 10 years after college entry, employment, economic mobility, and return on investment.

Ithaca College was also highly rated for teaching, innovation, and value by U.S. News & World Report in its 2023 rankings and showcased by Princeton Review as among the “Best 388 Colleges for 2023.”
