Ithaca College does not cover or insure students’ personal belongings or property if it is lost, stolen, or damaged. Therefore, the College strongly encourages students to purchase personal property insurance to protect their personal items while living on or off-campus. The College supports Arthur J. Gallagher (insurance broker) to offer this coverage to all enrolled Ithaca College students. It also provides worldwide coverage if you travel.
If a loss does occur to your personal belongings from water, fire, accidental damage or theft, this coverage will protect smartphones, laptops, tablets, clothes, books, bikes, musical instruments, TV’s, furniture, cameras, and other items. Policy limits, exclusions, and deductibles do apply. You will need to determine the appropriate insurance amount to protect your personal belongings before enrolling. Additional information about the coverage and enrollment are located on the insurance broker’s site.
In addition, renter’s liability insurance is also available this year. You have the option to purchase $100,000 liability insurance, which can be purchased at the same time as the property coverage. The difference between the Property and Liability Policies is explained further on the site.
Thank you for considering this coverage.
