Fall 2023 Course Schedule, Waitlist Knowledge: what you need to know.

Waitlist provides an opportunity for students to ‘wait in line’ for a seat to open in a course if a course is at capacity. A seat will become available if another student drops their seat.  (There is no override form for a class that is full.)

If you were on a waitlist for a seat in a course, the waitlist seats will be restored on Friday, August 4, 2023, at 9am. At that time, you can also add yourself to a waitlist if waitlist seats are available for the course. Not all courses have a waitlist option, and some waitlists are full.

How to tell if you are on a waitlist:

From your profile page in HomerConnect, make sure you have Fall 2023 selected in the upper left corner, and review your schedule for courses that have a Registration Status of Waitlist.

What is changing for waitlist fall 2023:

Beginning, August 23, 2023, at 8am (first day of classes):

  • Notification timing reduces to 12 hours during add/drop week. (Note: the notification reduces to 12 hours only during add/drop week. Until then, you can add courses within 24 hours of receipt of the notification email.)   If you receive an email during add/drop week that a seat is available, you have 12 hours to register for the course. (If you receive the email at 2am Saturday morning you have until 2pm Saturday afternoon to register for the class or the seat goes to the next student on the waitlist).
  • The option to add waitlist will shut off for all classes. We want to ensure students are registering for classes that they can successfully enroll in and attend.

What to do if you receive a waitlist notification:

  • From the time you receive an email notifying you a seat is open you have 24 hours to add the seat. (The 24-hour clock includes evenings, weekends and holidays so please keep checking your email).
  • Go into your registration and click the drop down and change it from “waitlist” to “web registered/registered” 
  • Click submit.  
  • You will know you are registered for the class if the status says “registered”
  • Have a backup plan, a seat may not open and the last day of add/drop is Tuesday, August 29 at 11:55pm

Getting an Error?

If you are waitlisted for a course and you get a waitlist notification that a spot has opened and you try to register for it, but you are getting an error message, make sure that you see what the error message means.

You can check out our Understanding Registration Error Messages guide for more information regarding error messages.  Depending on the error message, you might have to fill out a course registration override form on IC workflow.
