Dear Ithaca College Community,
I want to provide you with an update regarding the college’s plans for a gathering to honor the memory and enduring legacy of Patricia Zimmermann, longtime professor of screen studies in the Roy H. Park School of Communications.
As we shared in a previous message, the College will host a gathering for the campus community to come together in healing and in celebration of Patty’s life on Monday, August 28, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Originally planned to be held at the Muller Chapel, the location of the gathering has been moved to the Emerson Suites – a bigger venue that will allow for more people to comfortably attend.
The college will also offer a virtual option for members of our wider community unable to join us on campus for the in-person gathering. A livestream can be accessed at the following link: https://www.ithaca.edu/livestream/patricia-zimmermann-ic-community-gathering. Please note that individuals unable to view during the event can request a recording of the stream.
Individuals requesting specific accommodations for attending either the in-person gathering at Emerson Suites or viewing the livestream should direct their request to studentaffairs@ithaca.edu.
Please also be reminded that Patty’s family intends to hold a public celebration of her life and work in the Spring of 2024.
Please continue to take care and keep Patty and her loved ones in your thoughts.
Sincerely,
Melanie Stein
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
