ICTV's "The Universal Truth" Honored at Merced Queer Film Festival

The original television series received the festival's "Best Student Series" award

On Sunday, September 10th, Ithaca College's Television's "The Universal Truth" received the Merced Queer Film Festival's "Best Student Series" award. In addition, the show's third episode was screened during the three-day festival. The award was presented at the festival's awards ceremony and was accepted by the show's producers - Rebecca Rivera '23, AJ Pass '23, Julia Stitely '24 and Ava Berardi '25.

The Universal Truth is an original five-episode fictional television series that follows Milky Way, an immortal being currently slugging around in college, focused only on having fun. But Time and Space are coming to visit, and if Milky can’t find a way to prove the worth of their creations, it could mean the end of the galaxy… forever! Episodes one, two and three premiered on ICTV during the 2022-23 academic year. Episodes four and five are set to premiere during the Fall 2023 semester. The show's entire cast and crew were made up of Ithaca College students.

The second annual Merced Queer Film Festival was held Friday, September 8th - Sunday, September 10th at the Merced Multicultural Arts Center in Merced, California. The festival included categories for US and international feature and short films, documentaries, television/web series and student entries.
