An interview with Dr. Andrew Utterson recently featured in the Italian-language news site La Svolta.
Focused on the legacy of the 1960s French film Alphaville by director Jean-Luc Godard, the conversation explores the initial context of intelligent machines in the emergent digital cultures of the mid-twentieth century as well as the role of artificial intelligence in society nearly sixty years after Godard's film.
Among other publications, Utterson has written about cinema and technology in books including From IBM to MGM: Cinema at the Dawn of the Digital Age, which includes a chapter on Alphaville titled "Tarzan vs. IBM: Humans and Computers in Jean-Luc Godard's Alphaville."
