Wednesday, September 20th | 6pm – 8pm | Ithaca Falls Room, 2nd Floor Campus Center
Do you want to learn from the experience of a Senior Leader how to navigate a predominantly white institution?? Are you interested in especially learning how to navigate your career journey as a BIPOC and/or ally aspiring leader?
If your answer was yes to any of the questions, consider joining the BIPOC Unity Center for our Café con la Directora event in partnership with PODER and Dr. Marilú Marcillo.
Come learn from a Latina Senior Leader about how to thrive at a PWI and celebrate Latine/Hispanic Heritage Month with PODER. Dr. Marilú Marcillo, Full-Professor and Dean of the School of Business & Information Sciences at Felician University, will be sharing about their experience in pursuit of leadership, tips to develop leadership skills, and considerations as a Latine/Hispanic leader.
Café Con la Directora is an event hosted by the BIPOC Unity Center Director Angélica Carrington that offers an opportunity for students to learn about culturally identity-based student organizations, resources, and create a culturally validating space at IC.
PODER: Latinx Student Association's purpose is to unite students of Hispanic/Latinx descent at Ithaca College, foster and promote diversity and awareness of Hispanic/Latinx culture on campus, create an environment in which students will be afforded the opportunity to learn about themselves as individuals, while also learn about their cultural history, develop Latinx/Hispanic student leaders, and motivate Latinx/Hispanic students to excel academically, socially adapt to the Ithaca College community, and ultimately find a place to call casa (home).
