Cantor Abbe Lyons (Jewish chaplain, Hillel) was one of 20 local clergy presenters at the inaugural Interfaith and Secular Ethics Conference hosted by Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies at His Holiness 14th Dalai Lama Library and Learning Center. She gave a presentation on September 10th, "Jewish contemplative and prayer practices that help cultivate compassion, loving-kindness and forgiveness mindfully and experientially," in memory of her teacher, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, who was one of eight rabbis and Jewish leaders invited to Dharamsala by the Dalai Lama, who was seeking their guidance about how to survive diaspora.
