JED Campus Initiative's Stop and Breathe Week Events

Consider attending one of these programs to catch your breath before midterms!  It is only a selection of one of the many wonderful events you can attend at IC; browse the Events page or Engage for additional opportunities.

Unable to attend any programs in person? No problem. Check out our virtual hub of online wellness resources that include live animal cams, videos for visual relaxation, and creative virtual art activities.

Event:  Button Making
Registration?  No

Description: Take a short break by stopping into the library (entrance floor) to make a button!  Book covers and magazines will be available for you to cut out images to make a button -- you can bring your own design, too!

Description: High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is a form of interval training, a cardiovascular exercise strategy alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise with less intense recovery periods. HIIT is the concept where one performs a short burst of high-intensity (or max-intensity) exercise followed by a brief low-intensity activity, repeatedly, until too exhausted to continue.

Description: Have you ever wanted to be on Survivor? Well this isn't Survivor but its close! Grab your friends and come down to the Fitness Center Quad to participate in the ultimate challenge course. Grit n Wit combines physical challenges and puzzle games to put your skills to the test! All fitness levels and all ability levels are welcome and encouraged!  Participants will complete the course in teams of four, but if you can't find a team, we'll take care of that. Register here to reserve a spot, and find more information about the course!

Description:  Zumba is a dance aerobics class that is effective for building cardiovascular endurance and is open to all skill levels. Participants will be introduced to a variety of Latin and International music, making the class unique and full of energy.

Event:  Managing Stress (SLI Leading Self)

Description: During this workshop, students will participate in small group discussions and brainstorm to identify healthy stress coping mechanisms. Students will also develop several self-care plans and learn about stress management resources.

Event:  Expressions ft. Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers
Registration?  No
Hosting organization: IC School of Music, Theatre & Dance
Description: The Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, a new ensemble in the Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, will be recording in Ford Hall on the Ithaca College campus. A broadcast of this free event will air on WSKG TV at a later date. Take part in WSKG's Expression Show and get an inside look at how a live show is produced. The session is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.–9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11th, 2023.
