On Thursday, October 5th, Patrick McKeon (Associate Professor in the Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training) and pre-Athletic Training students, Grace Wang and Emily Wolfanger, presented at the South Hill Elementary STEAM night about the Athletic Training profession. They showcased how athletic trainers use Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Math to help people heal from sports injuries and stay active. Students from K-5 grades at South Hill learned how athletic trainers rely on Anatomy, Physiology, and Biomechanics to help them evaluate injuries and design rehabilitation plans. Emily and Grace worked with students to help them understand what affects standing balance and how we use different materials to challenge our balance systems. It was a great opportunity for parents, caregivers, and students to see what our profession is and what our Athletic Training students are learning at IC!
